Necklaces are in right now. Statement Necklaces.
Big.
Bold.
Statement Pieces.
I find them an easy ‘quick fix’ to perk up a mundane dress.
Here is a guide to teaming various styles and types of necklaces with a range of dresses.
Wear Them with Your Hair Up
To make it a highlight of your ensemble, let the attention go straight to your neck, keeping it clear of any hair around.
Let your necklace stand out by swiping your hair in a nice up do, a bun on nape, a sleek pony tail or just leaving them scrunched high up with a clutch.
Sport Them on a Simple Top or Dress
Pair your statement necklace with a clean, solid top that doesn’t distract eyes from the jewellery. Make sure the neckline is simple & neat without extra fabric or ruffles. Boat neck or deep scoop works best.
Don’t Overload Other Jewellery
If you’re planning to wear a statement necklace, skip earrings. You can even do away with rings and bracelets. Try not to give your necklace any competition!
If you feel bare without any other piece of jewelry, may be just one cocktail ring or a bracelet or small studs are just enough.
Color Block
Take your outfit to the next level by colour blocking your necklace with your dress. Stark contrasts work best. A coral piece in neck would look awesome on a navy dress or a turquoise one on white, black, fuasica pink.
Wear Them Stripes Not Heavy Prints
If you wish to combine your necklace with some pattern, go for stripes. Vertical strips look classic with a bold necklace. Avoid doing it with floral prints. But big single colored pieces look great with animal prints.
Make Your Scarf Your Necklace
Just like necklaces, scarves are also huge these days. For a causal look, wrap around a scarf in a chic way. Closed, square, long, with tassels, beads, trims – scarves are available in all possible variants today. Learn a trick or two of wearing these and you will surely make an impact.
GUD Tips & Ideas
Wow! (Do’s)
- Keep collecting cool pieces – wherever, whenever
- Must haves – Coral/red, turquoise/aqua, emerald green, black, silver & dull gold
Oops! (Don’ts)
- Big on bust? – Go for shorter necklaces
- Don’t wear chunky neckpiece and heavy earrings together
Hope my post has helped you in giving you some tips on how to team up necklace with your dress?
Stay stylish!
